(Serving Others with Eternal Devotion)
SOWED is a Christian-community based mission that provides food and prayer to the people of Ramona.
As a mission of Calvary Chapel, and in partnership with the San Diego Food Bank, food is given out every other Saturday, from 9:00AM until 11:00AM at Calvary Chapel located at 114 14th Street, Ramona, California 92065.
The goal of SOWED is to provide healthy food to anyone in need during distribution times, and we do so without regard to race, gender, community status, beliefs, etc.
While providing good food is the primary goal, we strive to provide prayer for anyone requesting it.
While volunteers are a blessing, only a few slots are available at each event. We require all volunteers to receive training prior to arriving to assist. During distribution times, we have developed a workable routine that allows the families to be served quickly, without any significant delays.
We have found that volunteers often find themselves blessed beyond belief for the experience.
Jesus Christ said the two greatest commandments are to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, minds, body, and soul. He also said that we are to love our neighbors as ourselves. Feeding the poor and hungry is one of the best ways to accomplish that.
1 John 3:18 says “People, let us not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions”. Serving others is a great way to demonstrate that kind of love.
Volunteers are needed on Saturday from 9:00AM until 11:00AM during distribution times, and again on Sunday morning to put out any leftover food to the church body.
Anyone interested in volunteering should contact the church office and request to be trained prior to arriving to assist. This will allow all volunteers to function smoothly.
For questions or other inquiries, feel free to contact the church office at 760-789-6031
